Install on a Mac

Agent City is a free download. There’s no account to create, and you don’t need to install Python or use a terminal. Everything it needs is inside the app.

  • A Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later), on macOS 12 or later
  • At least one language model. We recommend Ollama with qwen3.5:9b: free, and it runs on your Mac. Install Ollama first and the Setup check downloads the model for you.
  • Claude Code, only if you want to build agents with the Agent builder

See Requirements for memory, disk space, other models and optional extras.

  1. Download Agent-City-arm64.dmg. This link always points to the newest version.
  2. Open the .dmg and drag Agent City into Applications.
  3. Open Agent City from Applications or Launchpad.

The app is signed and notarized by Apple, so macOS opens it without warnings.

The first time it opens, Agent City shows the Setup check. It looks for a language model and the other things it can use, and offers to fix anything that’s missing. Continue with Setup check.

Agent City keeps running in the menu bar so your automations, reminders and incoming events keep working. Closing the window doesn’t quit the app.

The menu bar icon has:

Item What it does
Open Agent City Brings the window back. Clicking the Dock icon does the same.
Pair a Phone… Opens the pairing QR code. See Phones.
Open at Login Starts Agent City, without a window, when you log in.
Version Shows which version you have.
Check for Updates… Checks for a new version now.
Restart Agent City Stops and starts Agent City again.
Quit Agent City Stops Agent City and everything it’s running (⌘Q).

Only one copy of Agent City runs at a time. Opening it again just brings the existing window forward.

Agent City checks for a new version shortly after it starts and every six hours after that. When one is ready, a bar across the top of the window offers to update and restart. You can also check yourself from the menu bar or from Settings.

Updates are signed, and an installed copy refuses any update that isn’t.

Everything you create is stored on your Mac in:

~/Library/Application Support/Agent City

That folder holds your chats, memory, settings, API keys, automations and the agents you install or build. Logs are in its logs/ folder. See Privacy and your data for what goes where.

  1. Quit Agent City from the menu bar.
  2. Drag Agent City from Applications to the Bin.
  3. To remove your data as well, delete ~/Library/Application Support/Agent City.
